Pandiyan Kallu is located in the small village of Kottikulam near Bekal Fort. Pandiyam Kallu, is a stone rising from the Arabian Sea. According to legend, a Pandya king attempted to attack the temple from the sea, but Lord Shiva set fire to their ship. The wrecked ship was eventually transformed into a rock and named Pandiyan Kallu. Only the most daring swimmers dare to take a trip to Pandiyan Kallu, more so as a challenge. Entering the waters is prohibited during the monsoon season and the high tide period.
The village of Kottikulam is also famous for Trikknad Siva temple which is 2km away from Pandiyan Kallu. The temple is situated along the shores of the Arabian Sea and is famous for its traditions and customs. The best time to visit this area is during the festival season which falls in March-April. Theyyam and Thidambu Nritham are the major attractions of this place.
