This Hindu spiritual centre is situated in a lush green location near the old Hosdurg Fort in Kanhangad. The ashram is famous for its 43 holy caves which were built by Swami with his own hands. The caves, shaped from a single laterite stone, still remain an architectural wonder. In 1963, the ashram developed around this. A temple with Nithyananda’s panchaloha idol in Abhayamudra is placed above the caves. Another temple located in Guruvanam, which is five kilometres away from the ashram, is where Swami spent time in meditation in his younger days.
Guruvanam is a silent zone in a forest area, ideal for meditation. Being in a secluded area one should ensure auto/taxi facility is made available to and fro while planning the trip. Like most of the destinations in Kasaragod, this place is also situated in a beautiful location. The ashram hosts visitors providing free food and short stays on a donation basis. They provide free food to poor children too.
